How To Have Faith . . . In Yourself

The never-ending lesson

Believing in yourself is a universal life lesson. Often it’s equated with practicing self-love, creating healthy routines, or facing your fears.

But, in my experience, it’s much less tangible.

I’ll attempt to enclose this imperceptible process with tangible words.

Stop trying to tame the infinite.

We spend so much effort collecting time.

We hone our calendars, refine our schedules, check off our to-dos and bucket lists, and count birthdays in years instead of celebrations. All this in a scramble to tame the infinite, to shape our lives with experiences so that we become this or we can do that. And once we’re accomplished, faith in ourselves can finally flood our souls.

But, in my experience, when I gave faith just one attosecond (a billionth of a billionth of a second) of attention, I saw a shift. I saw that looking inside, instead of outside myself, for answers to my own life, is the most important thing I could do.

By looking inside and observing the finite condition of my soul, I started noticing the power of self.

Now that I knew where to look, the next step was to separate my inner voice from my voice.
